for closer visual inspection, surely you will be able to tell which sensor has to be replaced.

Make sure your injectors are sealing properly and that you don’t have any fuel leaks. Did you replace the o-rings when you cleaned the injectors?

Hey Lex, I’m not sure about this one. First, check that the P0341 and P0430 indicate problems on separate banks (I think they do).

I wouldn’t replace the cat just yet. Try replacing the cam sensor like you plan to, clear the P0430, and see if it comes back. I would check fuel trims to see if you’re running excessively rich.

I noticed you replaced the O2 sensors. If your O2 sensors were bad for a while, it’s possible the truck was running rich and this fouled the cat. I don’t know if this was the case, so I would clear that cat code after replacing the cam sensor and see what happens.

If you want to make sure the cam sensor is bad before you replace it, the factory service manual should have some steps for testing the sensor to verify it is bad. The manual will also have specific troubleshooting steps for each code that was thrown that will be more relevant than the general advice I’ve posted here. Good luck, hope this helps.

also worth noting the truck is sitting at 300k exactly.

well taken care of –
ATF, filter, gasket change ≈ 2 weeks ago
brake system rebuild – calipers, pads, hoses, lines, fluid ≈ 3
months ago
power steering system & fluid replacement, power steering cooler replacement ≈ 6 months ago
heater core flush ≈ 4 months ago
cooling system – all hoses replaced, fluid flushed ≈ 5 months ago
o2 sensors – all replaced ≈ 8 months ago

if any of that is relevant 🤷🏼‍♀️

i’ve been rebuilding my 2007 GMC yukon denali 6.2 v8 over the last year.
i’ve just completed a rebuild of my valve body & TEHCM pressure switches.
all has been well but i just threw my SEL today & so i hooked up my scanner(shop level) & received the codes P0341 & P0430.

i am still considerably new into this field & as such – even the fancy scanner cannot answer all of my questions.

so my question for you is –
could a faulty cam sensor potentially trigger a cat low efficiency code?

having read quite a bit of material on the two – i am somewhat inclined to think it may be possible given the relative functionality of the two being within the fuel/ign systems.

if i’m totally off track then at least i’ll know haha. just hoping to avoid a cat replacement at the moment & rather hoping for a solution that may be possible by way of replacing the cam sensor.

thanks in advance for your time & for the knowledge you share for people like myself.

lex

Could be the sensor. Or it could be a wiring issue.

I have a Toyota Camry 2008 model and of recent I discovered that after going some distance the car start to jerk and the speed reduces. Shortly I couldn’t start the engine anymore, its just rolling. When I checked the engine it’s saying Camshaft position sensor, could it be the issue. Please help

I think rather than a dirty point on the cam, you may have a dirty or corroded connection in that section of the wiring harness. Most camshaft sensors are electromagnetic so a dirty cam probably won’t affect the reading.
