In reply to Shawn Montgomery. You want to spray at least 6 coats to make sure it's thick enough. This will also make the coating more durable. Are you planning on applying a clear coat on top as well? I would allocate more than just a weekend to finish the project, just to be safe. Drying time varies by climate.

Question for you. I am planning on plasti dipping my 08 mercury milan this weekend and it is silver in color. I want to plasti dip my car white. How many coats should I put on my sliver mercury milan? And will I be able to do everything in a weekend time?

In reply to Chris. You could, yes. It's best to make sure the surface is clean and free of as much loose rust as possible before you dip the hood. Over time, if paint or rust peels away beneath the Plasti Dip you may have to reapply the dip, because it might not adhere to that surface as well.

98% of my hood has zero paint and is one big rust spot. Can I use Plasti Dip to cover this horrific birth mark on my car?

In reply to Robin. It's not recommended if the Plasti Dip is opaque. Nobody would be able to see your headlights and taillights that way.

In reply to Will. It shouldn't hurt anything, just make sure the wheels are clean when you apply another coat. Dipping wheels is best done with the wheels off of the car.

I have Plasti dip my wheels for 5-6 coats however when I went to drive it this morning the underneath area that isn’t easily visible have some areas that didn’t get covered properly. It’s been 12 hours since it dried can I reapply plasti dip after allowing it to dry for 12 hours.can a new coat over it damage the original coat on it right now
